Resetting an Employee's Password (eNETInbox)

The following document describes the steps required for an administrator to reset the password for an employee. Password resets are necessary when the employee has forgotten or lost their original password, of if they feel that their password has been compromised.

Before Resetting an Employee's Password: Before you reset the password, you may wish to remind the employee of the password convention that was used for their original password, as they may have simply forgotten the details:

  • The user name is: employeenumber@yourcompany - e.g. 045@abcco
  • The password is: the last 3 digits of the employee's SIN followed by their 4-digit year of birth (with no spaces in between) - e.g. 7231985

To Reset an Employee Password

  1. Log into eNETInbox using your company's administrator account (e.g. Username: admin@yourcompany - Password: 123xyz), and then right-click your mouse on the row for the user who needs the password reset. This displays a popup menu that shows several options that are specific to the selected employee.

  3. Choose the Reset Password button to expand the password-related fields, and then enter a new password in the Password field. A password strength meter will appear while typing in this field so that you have immediate feedback on the validity and strength of the password. If the password meter indicates Weak, the password will be rejected and you will see a Red notification bar at the top of the screen when you attempt to save the changes. If this occurs, please try again using a combination of alphanumeric characters until a Good or Strong designation appears in the meter. Passwords must be at least 6 characters in length.
For discretionary purposes, the password will not be displayed in the cell while it is being edited. Instead, an asterisk (*) will be displayed for each character entered.
  4. Move to the Confirm Password field and re-enter the password that you just entered in the Password field. This cell works in conjunction with the Password cell in that you must enter the identical password in both cells. If the password is not identical in these two cells, the password will be rejected and you will see a Red notification bar at the top of the screen when you attempt to save the changes.
  5. Move to the Require Change Password and place a check in the box. This will remind the employee to replace this updated password with one of their own the next time they log into the program.

  6. Choose the Save button to complete the process. The employee can now use this temporary password the next time they log into eNETInbox.
  7. Notify the employee that their password has been changed. An email message containing the new password is a good way to do so. You may also wish to remind them that they must change the temporary password to one of their own choosing the next time they log in.

Enforcing a Temporary Password Change: After performing a Reset Password procedure, many administrator's choose to enforce a password change by placing a check mark in the Require Change Password box before they Save the changes. If you do so, the employee will be reminded to replace your temporary password with one of their own the next time they log into the program.
